Olafur Arnalds' Only the Winds - Reinterpreted by The Cocoknot Theori
Some time early last year, there was a contest in Indaba Music that offered a streaming spot in Spotify to the artist, who gets the maximum number of votes, for doing the best reinterpretation of the track, Only the Winds by the Icelandic musician, Olafur Arnalds. We got excited and did our own Indian ethnic version of the track including flute, aalaaps and all. Our friend, Murali Rangarajan helped us with the flute and we had a great time working on this version, even though we didn't get enough number of votes to win the contest. Here's the story we created for this reinterpretation: The family goes out canoeing on what seems like a pleasant day. They get captivated by the beauty of nature, when everything falls apart and the boat capsizes. The idea here is the father trying to tell the kid to hold on until they get to him.
Do listen to the track and let us know if the music can justify the imagery.
